Education Associate, Maputo, Mozambique, UN Volunteer (International / Associate UCoS)

Under the direct supervision of an Education Specialist and technical guidance from the Chief of Education, the UN Volunteer Education Associate will support achievements towards ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education in Mozambique. The role focuses on managing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, data management, and donor reporting across the Learning, Skills, and Engagement (LSE) portfolio—including Accelerated School Readiness (ASR), Digital Learning, Learning-to-Earning (L2E), system strengthening, Youth Engagement, and Education in Emergencies.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS & DUTIES

• Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E): Support the M&E component of donor-funded programs (e.g., EU, Japanese Committee for UNICEF). Conduct field monitoring visits and surveys to assess progress, identify bottlenecks, document risks, and facilitate decision-making.
• Data Management & Visualization: Analyze government and partner education statistics, streamline and harmonize data collection tools, follow up on field data, and create dashboards, infographics, and factsheets using tools like Power BI or Tableau.
• Knowledge Management & Visibility: Support digital workplace tools (SharePoint, KM evidence sites) and collaborate with the communications team to highlight donor contributions, best practices, human-interest stories, and key messaging via web/social media.
• Programmatic & Administrative Support: Support the formulation of donor proposals, donor reporting, and coordinate operational tasks with supply, HR, and processing units.

• Eligibility & Nationality: Candidate must be an international candidate (non-Mozambican national). Special Condition:
• This position is funded by Switzerland; only candidates pre-selected by Switzerland (cinfo) are eligible to apply. Age eligibility: 18 – 80. Education: Master’s degree in Education, Data Science, Social Sciences, or other relevant disciplines.
• Experience: Demonstrated interest and/or experience (ideally 1 year / minimum 1–3 months) in M&E, program management, digital learning, or girls’ education. Volunteer or cross-cultural experience is highly regarded.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data management, Power BI, Tableau, SharePoint, or other visualization products.
• Languages: English (Fluent – Required); Portuguese (Basic – Desirable).
