PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Field Officer serves as Enabel’s field representative in Nampula Province, supporting the implementation of disaster preparedness, community-based early warning systems, resilient shelter approaches, and recovery planning across disaster-prone districts. Reporting and working closely with local stakeholders, the position ensures effective community engagement, field monitoring, and integration of inclusive resilience practices.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS & DUTIES
- Field Implementation & Technical Support: Support disaster preparedness, resilient shelter initiatives, and community-based early warning system activities in target districts.
- Institutional & Community Engagement: Work closely with target communities, local district authorities, and the Provincial Delegation of INGD. Support the establishment and operational strengthening of local disaster risk management committees.
- Stakeholder Facilitation: Organize and facilitate coordination meetings, multi-stakeholder engagements, workshops, and community dialogue at provincial and district levels.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Track field progress, document site activities and photographic records, identify implementation challenges, and draft detailed field progress reports.
- Inclusion & Social Safeguards: Drive inclusive approaches that ensure the active participation and protection of women, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups across DRR activities.
Requisitos
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Adaptation, Rural Development, Social Sciences, Environmental or Civil Engineering, Development Studies, or a related field.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in disaster risk management, climate resilience, disaster preparedness, or community development.
- Proven experience working directly with local government authorities, community structures, or disaster management bodies. Hands-on experience conducting community-level field interventions in rural or remote areas.
- Required Skills & Knowledge:Solid understanding of Mozambique’s national disaster risk management framework and the role/operation of INGD. Strong community engagement, facilitation, and field management skills.
- Ability to work independently in remote environments and deliver results under tight schedules. Proficiency in MS Office and common digital collaboration tools.
- Languages: Fluency in Portuguese and a good working knowledge of English.
