Under the supervision of Dr. Alberto García-Basteiro, the Microbiologist will provide technical and quality oversight for the mycobacteriology laboratory across the TB group’s portfolio of research projects in Mozambique, ensuring procedures meet international standards for diagnostic, clinical, and epidemiological research activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Monitoring: Monitor quality indicators for the area, propose and implement corrective measures to address deviations, and ensure adherence to international standards.
Technical Oversight & Innovation: Adapt and implement new laboratory techniques aligned with international standards and research project needs.
Capacity Building & Training: Identify staff training needs, lead technical-scientific sessions, guide result interpretation, and support laboratory technicians in technical presentations.
Coordination & Representation: Represent the laboratory’s technical-scientific perspective in meetings and coordinate closely with the Laboratory Manager.
Requisitos
Educational Background: University degree in Microbiology or related fields (postgraduate training or specialization in Clinical Microbiology is highly valued).
Professional Experience & Skills:
Demonstrated experience working in mycobacteriology laboratories and participating in research projects (particularly in tuberculosis).
Proven team management and leadership skills.
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills for result interpretation.
Languages & Mobility: Fluency in English and Spanish (fluency in Portuguese is highly valued). Availability to reside in Mozambique and travel as needed.
